Every morning at 9 o’clock, Ukraine observes a minute of silence to honor the memory of those who gave their lives defending the nation from Russian aggression. Today, the Lviv region mourns eight soldiers who fell in the line of duty.
🕯 Valeriy Yatskiv
A soldier from the village of Velyka Lynyna, Starosambir community. He served as a gunner in the airmobile battalion of military unit A0281. He died on December 20 during a combat mission near the village of Mala Loknya, Kursk region.
🕯 Viktor Fedorovych “Fedya”
Originally from Kovel, Volyn region, lived in Stryi. In September 2024, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a rifleman and grenade launcher assistant in the “Shkval” motorized infantry special unit. He was injured in November but continued to serve. He died on December 23 during an artillery attack near Pokrovsk at the age of 42.
🕯 Andriy Pavlenko
A resident of the village of Davydiv. He was killed on December 3 near Ivanivske in the Bakhmut district due to enemy artillery shelling.
🕯 Taras Moroz
A native of the village of Mokrotyn in the Zhovkva community. He participated in the ATO in 2014-2015 as part of the 80th Airborne Assault Brigade. He died on December 23 in a military town in the Vinnytsia region at the age of 39.
🕯 Maryan Prodan
Born in Storozhynets, Chernivtsi region, later moved to Lviv. Between 2014-2016, he carried out combat missions in the ATO zone. At the onset of the full-scale invasion, he joined the 12th Separate Battalion of the National Guard of Ukraine.
🕯 Pavlo Fomenko
A native of Avdiivka, Donetsk region. He stayed in the city during the war and was injured twice. After recovering, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in May 2024. He served as a senior gunner in the mechanized company of military unit A4576, conducting missions in the Kursk direction.
🕯 Ihor Kukhta
Born in the village of Hutytsko-Turyanske, Lviv region. He fought in the 5th Separate Tank Brigade of the 11th Army Corps of the Land Forces. He died on December 21 during a combat mission.
🕯 Oleh Pushkar
A native of Shehyni village. Since March 2022, he served as a senior lieutenant and physician in the medical unit of military unit A3719. He was wounded on December 21 during an evacuation near Torske in the Kramatorsk district and passed away on December 24 in intensive care.
