Lviv Region Honors Fallen Heroes: Farewell to Five Ukrainian Defenders

Every day at 9 a.m., Ukraine pauses to honor the memory of those who gave their lives for the country’s freedom and independence. Today, the Lviv region bids farewell to five defenders who died in the fight against Russian aggression.

🕯️ Ivan Opryshko

A resident of Zavadiv village, Stryi community. Joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in June 2023. He served as a fire support platoon commander in the 11th Air Assault Company. He was killed on January 10 while carrying out a combat mission in the Kursk region. The hero was 40 years old.

🕯️ Valeriy Borzenkov

Lived in the city of Horodok, Lviv district. Defended Ukraine as part of the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Anna of Kyiv. He died on January 9 near the village of Yaseneve, Pokrovskyi district, Donetsk region. He was 52 years old.

🕯️ Dmytro Permyakov

Born in Zaporizhzhia, he lived in Vynnyky. A colonel with 30 years of military experience, he participated in missions during the Anti-Terrorist Operation/Joint Forces Operation. Despite retiring, he returned to defend his homeland after the full-scale invasion. He served in the 11th Army Corps and fought in Donetsk, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions. He died on January 9 at the age of 49.

🕯️ Stepan Levandovsky

A native of Lviv. In 2014, he maintained public order in Mariupol as a State Security Service officer. After the full-scale invasion, he joined the “KORD” special police battalion. He died on January 9 at the age of 38.

🕯️ Vitaliy Slovik

A native of Lviv. A senior sergeant who served in the National Police of Ukraine. For his dedicated service, he received several awards, including the “Veteran of War” badge. He died on January 4 at the age of 31.
