Anniversary of Loss: Remembering Bohdan Penyuk

May 12, 2024 — a day that will forever remain a pain in the heart of the Velyki Mosty community.

On this very day, during a combat mission near the village of Kovalivka in the Luhansk region, our fellow countryman, Defender of Ukraine — Bohdan Penyuk, perished.

Bohdan was born on January 24, 1974, in the town of Velyki Mosty. This is where his childhood, schooling, and first steps into adulthood took place. After serving in the army, he got married and became a father — he had an only daughter, whom he loved very much.

He worked as an underground electrical fitter at the installation and tunneling department of Lvivvuhillia State Enterprise, and from July 2022, he joined the defense of his homeland with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a machine gunner in the 1st Infantry Battalion of Military Unit A7015. He fought on the front lines in the Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions. A true fighter — courageous, decisive, and dedicated.

His life was cut short suddenly — under enemy mortar fire. But the memory of him will live forever. Because he is one of those Heroes thanks to whom we have a chance for peace, for freedom, for Ukraine.

Bohdan was buried with military honors in his native Velyki Mosty. He is survived by his wife, daughter, mother, and sisters. And a great gratitude remains — from the entire community, from the entire country.

Eternal memory and honor to the Hero.

Glory to Ukraine!

Glory to the heroes!
