On 11 July, the funeral of soldier Serhiy Yatsenko took place in the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Sokal.
He was born on 3 July, 1964, in the village of Chervona Hirka, Kursk region. On 08.11.2019, he enlisted under a contract to serve in the military unit A-3488, 24th separate assault battalion “Aidar”, served as a rifleman. For five years, he took part in the defence of his homeland in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. He served in such positions as Pervomaisk, Soledar, Hranitne, Vuhledar, Volnovakha, Anadol, Klishchiyivka. During the full-scale invasion, the Yatsenko family was forced to move to Sokal, where they now live. From 2022, Serhiy Yatsenko served in the Donetsk sector near Novohryhorivka.

The burial ceremony of soldier Serhiy was led by Metropolitan Archpriest Yaroslav Kashchuk with the clergy of the city and district.
Yesterday, on 10 July, the family and friends of the Sokal community met the Hero of Ukraine, soldier Serhiy Yatsenko, on the shield.
The cup of patience of the Ukrainian people is being filled to the brim. The tears of mothers and children do not fall to the ground, but fill it to the brim. And it is already full,” said Volodymyr Zharsky.
