Today, the Velykomostivska community remembers its Hero — Mykhailo Shyika, who died defending Ukraine.
Mykhailo Shyika was born on November 20, 1990, in the city of Velyki Mosty. He graduated from the local school and studied at the professional art-technical college №14 in Ivano-Frankove. He worked at LLC ‘United Fashion of Ukraine’.
From April 13, 2022, Mykhailo defended his native land, being mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 2nd self-propelled artillery battalion of military unit A2573.
On July 22, 2023, Mykhailo died during a combat mission near the settlement of Vodyane, Kharkiv region. He was buried in his hometown on July 27.
The Hero is survived by his mother, wife, daughter, and son. For personal courage, heroism, and dedicated service to the people of Ukraine, Mykhailo Shyika was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage III class.
