The Sokal community is grieving once again, as it says farewell to two brave defenders who gave their lives for Ukraine — Roman Kobryn and Mykhailo Soltys.
🕯️ Roman Kobryn (born August 27, 1983), a resident of Sokal and graduate of Secondary School No. 5, was a devoted father, kind-hearted friend, and reliable comrade-in-arms.
He took part in the Anti-Terrorist Operation starting in 2016, and at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions, defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The farewell ceremony will take place on September 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM near the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, immediately upon the arrival of the funeral cortege. A memorial service and burial will follow.
🕯️ Mykhailo Andriyovych Soltys (born September 16, 1975), a native of the village of Potorytsia, served as a senior sergeant in the security company of the Chervonohrad District Military Commissariat. He was deployed on September 2, 2024 as part of the forces securing national defense in combat zones.
He was declared missing in action on September 17, 2024, and for almost a year, his family lived in painful uncertainty. On September 11, 2025, Mykhailo was officially confirmed dead while performing a combat mission near the village of Mykolaivka in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region.
Sincere condolences are extended to his mother Olha, son Andriy, brother Yaroslav, godparents, and all grieving relatives.
Details regarding the arrival and funeral of the Hero will be announced later.
Eternal glory and memory to the Heroes of Ukraine.
