Sokal region bids farewell to fallen defender Ihor Stashyshyn

In the Sokal region, the death has been reported of serviceman Ihor Stashyshyn, born on 08 February 1975, a resident of the town of Sokal. The defender of Ukraine was killed in action in Donetsk region and for a long time was considered missing in action.

Ihor Stashyshyn was born into a large family in the village of Leshkiv. After leaving school, he trained as a gas welder at the Belz Vocational School, worked in his native village and helped his parents.

In 2014, with the start of the Russian invasion, he was called up for military service. He took part in the liberation of Maryinka and Kostiantynivka. After returning home in 2015, he married Nataliia; their daughter Daryna was born, and the family lived in Sokal.

After the start of the full-scale war, on 19 March 2022, Ihor was again mobilised into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought his final battle on 26 February 2024 in the settlement of Ivanivske in Donetsk region.

For more than two and a half years, the soldier was listed as missing in action. Only recently was his identity established based on DNA test results.

Mourning the loss of Ihor Stashyshyn are his wife Nataliia, daughter Daryna, mother Yelyzaveta, his brothers and sisters, and his extended family.

It is reported that on 07 October at 13:00, near the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Sokal, the body of the fallen warrior will be received, after which a panikhida and the burial service will be held.
