The Sokal community has received official confirmation of the death of serviceman Andrii Kucher, a native of the village of Velyke. He was born on 10 December 1980 and from his first days in service faithfully defended Ukraine.
According to the official notification, Andrii Kucher served as a grenadier in the 1st assault squad of the 3rd assault platoon of the 1st assault company of the 2nd assault battalion of military unit A7400. He conscientiously fulfilled his military oath, defending the freedom and independence of the state.
It is reported that on 9 February 2025, near the locality of Sverdlіkove in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, the soldier was killed in action while carrying out a combat mission, having sustained injuries incompatible with life. After this he was considered missing in action.
Only on 9 July 2026 was the body of the fallen defender identified. The community extends its sincere condolences to his mother, relatives, loved ones, friends and all who knew Andrii Kucher, and asks for support for them in this time of great loss.
The Sokal community reports that additional information will be provided regarding the return of the warrior’s body home and the time of the wake and funeral.
