Soldier Andrii Forostyna from the Stryi district posthumously awarded the “Combatant’s Cross”

At the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Lviv, a ceremony was held to honour the fallen servicemen of the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The families of 11 fallen soldiers were presented with high military decorations of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — the “Combatant’s Cross”.

Among those posthumously honoured is soldier Andrii Forostyna, a resident of the village of Piddnistryany in the Khodoriv community of the Stryi district. He served as a rifleman in the 2nd rifle squad of the 3rd platoon of the rifle company of the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade.

For a long time, Andrii Forostyna was considered missing in action. It was later confirmed that he was killed on 23 July 2024 while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Novoselivka Persha in the Donetsk region. At the time of his death, the defender was 55 years old.

Eternal memory to the fallen warrior and condolences to his family and comrades-in-arms.
