Stryi bids farewell to gunner-operator Ihor Petrishak

In Stryi, the identity has been established of the fallen serviceman Ihor Petrishak, a gunner-operator of the 3rd reconnaissance unit of the 1st mechanised battalion. The defender went missing in action after a battle near the village of Tonenke in Pokrovskyi district of Donetsk region, and his identity was later confirmed through DNA samples.

Ihor Petrishak was born in Stryi and lived there all his life. He studied at local school No. 1 and later trained at the Stryi Higher Art Vocational School. He worked at the Teacher’s House in Stryi and at the Tandem company.

In 2023, he was mobilised into the ranks of Ukraine’s defenders. After the battle near Tonenke, the soldier was long considered missing in action until specialists carried out a genetic examination and identified the body.

The fallen soldier is survived by his elderly mother, who has lost her only son, as well as a brother and other relatives. The community extends its sincere condolences to the family of the fallen defender and thanks him for his service to Ukraine.
