Taras Stelmashek from Reklynets Killed in Road Accident

Today marks four years since the Velykomostivska community lost its Defender — Taras Stelmashek. He was born on 14 August 1981 in the village of Reklynets, where he spent his childhood and youth. After school, he worked at a mine, later at the “Lisova” mine of the state enterprise “Lvivvuhillia”.

With the onset of the war in 2014, he was mobilised into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving as a driver-operator in the logistics unit of a military mobile hospital. In 2015, he carried out combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation zone in Donetsk region.

In 2021, he signed a contract with the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he defended Ukrainian land, particularly in the Popasna area. On 23 April 2022, Taras’s life was tragically cut short in a road traffic accident.

For his courage and dedication to Ukraine, Taras Stelmashek was awarded the honorary distinction “For a Free Luhansk Region”, the “ATO Participant” medal, and was posthumously honoured with the title “Hero of the Velykomostivska Territorial Community”. He was one of those who stood without hesitation to defend the Motherland.

We bow our heads in mourning and gratitude. Eternal memory to the Hero.
