With deep sorrow and solemnity, the community of Truskavets paid their final respects to their fallen Hero — Andrii Vasylovych Petrusiak. At the Heroes’ Crossroad, a human corridor formed as residents silently honored the soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The atmosphere was filled with quiet mourning and gratitude — a farewell worthy of those who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom.
Among those who came to pay tribute were: Truskavets community head Andrii Kulchynskyi, Drohobych District Military Administration leader Stepan Kulyniak, Truskavets Deputy Mayor Sviatoslav Stefankiv, Dobrohostiv village head Vasyl Irod, city council deputies Volodymyr Ivasivka and Andrii Hnidan, social service representatives, comrades-in-arms, friends, civic activists, and local residents.
Andrii Petrusiak, born on May 28, 1978, served as a sapper in military unit A 4447, holding the rank of senior soldier. He was killed in February 2024 during a combat mission on the Pokrovsk front. For over a year, his family awaited the opportunity to bid him a proper farewell. Only now has his body been returned home.
Andrii is survived by his elderly father, brother, and daughter, all residing in Dobrohostiv. Clergy from Dobrohostiv and Truskavets held a memorial service, after which the funeral procession proceeded to his home, where he will rest eternally.
A prayer service will take place today at 8:00 PM, and the funeral is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00 AM.
The community not only mourned his loss but affirmed that Andrii Petrusiak’s sacrifice was not in vain. His heroism stands as a testament to courage and loyalty. It is our duty to remember each person who returns home in a coffin and to keep fighting for the Ukraine they gave everything for.
