The Belz urban territorial community is introducing an updated air raid warning system with different signals depending on the level of threat from aerial attacks. This is being carried out in accordance with Resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No.1092 of 4 September 2026 and No.1128 of 15 September 2026.
Two threat levels have now been established: the “red level” will indicate a missile or combined missile-and-drone attack, as well as a massive drone strike. The “yellow level” will signal a drone threat. The “Air raid alert” signal will consist of the sound signal “Attention everyone” and a voice announcement indicating the relevant level of threat.
The duration of the siren will depend on the level: for the red level, the signal will last 1 minute; for the yellow level, 30 seconds. It is planned that the yellow threat level will be activated with regard to specific districts.
The transition to the new warning system will be phased. Electromechanical sirens will gradually be replaced with modern electronic systems. As more than 1,300 such devices are in operation in Lviv region, full modernisation will take time. During this transitional period, signals may differ between various settlements and districts: some systems will already be transmitting the “yellow” or “red” level, while others will remain in the old format.
Residents are urged to listen carefully to the voice messages accompanying air raid warning signals and to stay calm if sirens sound differently. It is separately noted that the “All clear” signal for air raid alerts will be broadcast only as a voice message, without the “Attention everyone” siren.
The Belz urban territorial community calls on residents to treat the changes with understanding and to take into account possible differences in how warning systems operate during the transition period.
