Today in the village of Berezyna, part of the Novorozdil community, a farewell ceremony was held for Ukraine’s Defender — Oleh Hirniak. This was reported by newrozdil.city. The senior sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine gave his life for the freedom and independence of our country.
He died on January 22, 2026, during a combat mission in the area of the settlement of Yunakivka, Sumy region. Only on February 16 was it possible to evacuate the warrior’s body from the battlefield, so that relatives and the community could honorably bid him farewell. Today, the entire community bowed in mourning.
Fellow villagers, comrades, community representatives, clergy, and all concerned gathered to pay tribute to the brave warrior who remained faithful to the military oath and Ukraine until the end.
