
Roman Malanchak, a resident of Truskavets and a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was killed on 17 February 2025 near the settlement of Dachne, close to Pokrovsk in Donetsk region.
Roman Dmytrovych Malanchak was born on 23 September 1978. He lived with his family in Truskavets on Vasyl Stus Street.
He was mobilised into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the Drohobych District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centre on 25 September 2023. He served as a driver in a grenade launcher platoon of the 2nd mechanised battalion of military unit A4447.
Since February 2025, Roman Malanchak had been considered missing in action. It was later established that he had been killed while carrying out a combat mission during the movement of personnel to an evacuation point on 17 February 2025.
On Wednesday, 17 June, the Truskavets community will welcome home the fallen warrior, Roman Malanchak. The gathering is scheduled at the Heroes’ Crossroads at 14:00, after which a farewell service will be held in the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah on Vasyl Stus Street.
The parastas (memorial service) will be held on 17 June at 19:00. The funeral of Roman Malanchak will take place on Thursday, 18 June, at 12:00, starting from the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah in Truskavets.
