Yuriy Vinnyk, an employee of the Ivan Franko Lviv National University, died while defending Ukraine from the Moscow occupier in a battle near the town of Bakhmut in Donetsk region. The hero was only 26 years old.

Since August 2020, Yuriy has been working as a roofer at the University’s repair and construction department. On February 28, 2022, he was mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, so from the first days of the full-scale war, the Hero defended the Ukrainian State from the Russian invaders.
The academic community of Ivan Franko Lviv National University is deeply saddened by the irreparable loss and expresses its sincere condolences to the relatives, friends, and colleagues of the deceased Hero.
