Sokal has once again received heartbreaking news from the front lines. During the defense of Ukraine against Russian aggression, Roman Fedorovych Davydiuk, born in 1991 and a resident of Sokal, was killed.
Roman was born in the village of Zastavne in Volyn region and studied at the Zabolottsi school. In 2009, he entered the Sokal Vocational Lyceum, where he mastered the profession of builder.
On May 12, 2025, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a grenadier in the marine infantry unit A0216, holding the rank of sailor. While carrying out a combat mission near Novopavlivka, Dnipropetrovsk region, he was fatally wounded by an enemy FPV drone strike.
Roman was a man of a bright soul — kind, cheerful, and always ready to help. His bravery and dedication will forever remain in the memory of his family, friends, and comrades.
The Sokal community extends sincere condolences to his father Fedor, his son Stanislav, his civilian wife Liudmyla, and her children, whom Roman raised as his own.
The farewell ceremony will take place on August 11 at 14:00 near the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Sokal, followed by a requiem service. The burial will be held on August 12 at 12:00, and Roman will be laid to rest at the Alley of Glory in his hometown.
Eternal memory and honor to the Hero!
