30-year-old soldier from Nismychi, Dmytro Polishchuk, killed in battle near Pokrovsk

The Sokal community is once again in mourning after receiving the tragic news of the death of their fellow countryman and defender of Ukraine, Dmytro Volodymyrovych Polishchuk.

On November 25, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission in the Pokrovsk sector, he gave his life defending his homeland. The journey to bring his body home was long and painful for his family.

Dmytro Polishchuk was born on October 15, 1994, in the village of Nismychi. He studied at Uhryniv Secondary School and later attended Sokal Vocational Lyceum.

On March 19, 2022, he was mobilized into the National Guard of Ukraine, serving in military unit 3002. He fought as a rifleman in the 1st rifle platoon of the 2nd rifle squad of the battalion, taking part in battles in Maryinka, Kurakhove, and Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.
His final battle took place in the village of Hrodivka, in the Pokrovsk direction.

Dmytro was a kind and cheerful person, always ready to help others. He loved music and football and valued sincerity and friendship. He was only 30 years old, with so much life ahead of him.

The Sokal City Council expresses its deepest condolences to his sister Nataliya, brother-in-law Andrii, niece Anastasiia, nephew Yurii, and the entire extended family.

The farewell ceremony will be held on August 8 at 14:00 near the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Sokal. Afterward, the funeral procession will travel to his native village of Nismychi, where the burial service will begin from his family home.
