In Bolehivtsi, fallen Heroes from the village who gave their lives for Ukraine were honored, and the memory of Roman Stasik and Pavlo Dobosh was immortalized with memorial plaques mounted on the facade of their alma mater. From now on, they will always remind children, parents, and educators of the warriors’ feat and their invaluable sacrifice.
The ceremonial event for the blessing of the memorial plaques took place today, May 29, at the Bolehiv Gymnasium. On this occasion, relatives of the fallen warriors, students, teachers of the gymnasium, fellow villagers, and community leaders gathered at the school, including the city mayor Taras Kuchma, village elder Taras Horodyskyi, city council deputy Mykhailo Zadorozhnyi, and head of the education department Petro Shev’yak, along with deputy Halyna Marchuk.
“Today in Drohobych, there is another funeral. It is difficult and painful to look into the eyes of mothers who have lost their children. There are also those who have been waiting for years for news, hoping their loved ones who disappeared will return home alive. All our Heroes must be properly honored, and most importantly, they must live forever in our hearts. Because memory distinguishes us as a nation – the memory and respect for those thanks to whom our Ukraine exists”, emphasized city mayor Taras Kuchma.
Students of the Bolehiv Gymnasium prepared performances for the guests, as well as emotional videos about the Heroes of Ukraine and the importance of preserving memory, along with brief biographical notes about the fallen Heroes.
“It’s painful and sad because many of our fellow villagers are no longer with us. Among them are graduates of our school. But on this great day, we find joy in gathering together and honoring their memory”, highlighted in her speech the director of Bolehiv Gymnasium, Iryna Shmihelska.
The wife of the fallen warrior Pavlo Dobosh spoke briefly. Father Ivan blessed the event and conducted the ceremony for the blessing of the memorial plaques.
Memorial plaques for the school’s alumni Roman Stasik and Pavlo Dobosh were installed on the gymnasium facade. During the event, they commemorated and prayed for all fallen warriors who were born in or residents of the village. Among them were Roman Biliy and Taras Kondur.
