In the village of Bortnyky in the Khodoriv community in the Stryi district, three memorial plaques were unveiled and blessed on the façade of the Zolotar School in honour of three fallen defenders of Ukraine. In this way, the educational institution has immortalised the memory of the servicemen who gave their lives at the front.
Volodymyr Kotovych served as a driver-electrician in the 2nd mechanised platoon of the mechanised company of military unit A 2573. He was killed on 31 March 2024 in battle for Ukraine near the settlement of Bilohorivka in Luhansk region. The defender was awarded the “War Veteran” breast badge.
Yurii Kutsyk was a senior rifleman-operator of the 1st rifle squad of the 1st rifle platoon of the 1st rifle company of the 1st rifle battalion of military unit A 4638. He lost his life on 17 March 2024 while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Orlivka in Donetsk region.
Andrii Shydlovskyi served as a driver-electrician in the 2nd mechanised platoon of the mechanised company of military unit A 7285. He was killed on 16 June 2024 near the settlement of Sokil in Donetsk region. Posthumously, the serviceman was awarded the Order “For Courage” (3rd Class).
The memorial plaques on the school façade are intended to remind pupils and the entire community of the price of Ukrainian freedom and the sacrifice of the fallen Defenders of Ukraine.
