The names of seven graduates who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war were immortalized on the facade of the Ponykove secondary school: Vitalii Kit, Marian Mysak, Vasyl Horkusha, Yevhen Chornii, Marian Myshchuk, Volodymyr Savonik, and Mykola Haba.
Vitaliy Kit is a resident of the village of Ponokovytsia. In 2014-2015, he performed combat missions in the ATO zone. After the outbreak of full-scale war, he returned to the Armed Forces. The soldier died at the age of 51.
Marian Mysak was from the village of Kovpyn, Brody community. Marian was a sniper of the first mobile battalion of the 81st separate airmobile brigade. He died on November 4, 2022 near the village of Bilohorivka, Donetsk region.
Vasyl Horkusha was a defender from the Brody community. Vasyl was an assistant gunner of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo. He died on September 16, 2022 in Mykolaiv region.
Yevhen Chorniy was a resident of the village of Ponykovytsia. After the full-scale invasion, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a rifleman. He died on February 6, 2023, while performing a combat mission in the Severodonetsk sector. He was 31 years old.
Marian Myshchuk was a resident of the village of Ponykovytsia. He was a soldier of a mechanized battalion. He died on September 29, 2023 near Bakhmut as a result of artillery shelling. He was 26 years old.
Volodymyr Savonik was a native of the village of Ponykovytsia. He was a staff sergeant, head of the radio station of an engineering company. He died on December 14, 2023, in the Zaporizhzhia sector.
Mykola Haba was a defender from the village of Ponykovytsia. Before the full-scale Russian offensive, he participated in the Joint Forces Operation. Afterward, he returned to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was the platoon commander of the strike unmanned aerial vehicles of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade. He died on February 8, 2024 near Bakhmut.
