Busk community to bid farewell to Ukrainian Armed Forces Captain Serhiy Havryliuk

A Day of Mourning has been declared in the Busk City Territorial Community following the death of Serhiy Havryliuk, a captain in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and head of the field communications hub of the 146th Separate Repair and Restoration Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stationed in Zolochiv. The serviceman, a resident of Busk, died in the morning of 10 August 2026 at the Military Medical Clinical Centre of the Western Region in Lviv.

Serhiy Havryliuk was born on 12 October 1967 in the town of Busk. He dedicated a significant part of his life to serving in the internal affairs bodies, in particular working as head of the department of the state service for combating economic crime of the Busk District Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Lviv Region, and held the special rank of retired militia major.

He took part in the Anti-Terrorist Operation and the Joint Forces Operation as part of the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo. After the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, on 3 March 2022 he was mobilised into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he served as head of the communications hub.

Busk City Council, the primary veterans’ organisation of the NGO “Association of Veterans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine”, his colleagues in service and his military comrades-in-arms have expressed their condolences to the family and friends of Serhiy Havryliuk and to all who knew and respected him.

The Parastas for Serhiy Havryliuk is scheduled for 12 August at 19:00 at his home at: Busk, 32a/1 Lvivska Street. The funeral service will begin on 13 August at 10:00 outside the house. The cortege with the defender’s body will proceed along Lvivska Street and the 900th Anniversary of Busk Square to the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, where a requiem Liturgy will be held at 11:00.

After the service, the mourning procession will move along Yevhen Petrushevych Street to the town cemetery. Serhiy Havryliuk will be laid to rest at the Pantheon of Heroes alongside other fallen soldiers.

Residents of the Busk community are asked to form a live corridor along the cortege route and to pay due tribute to Ukraine’s defender on his final journey. In accordance with the order of Busk Mayor Rostyslav Slipets, 13 August has been declared a Day of Mourning in the community.
