
The Drohobych community has reported the death of a defender of Ukraine, a native of Drohobych, Yevhenii Riazantsev. The soldier’s life was cut short on 12 July 2026 in Kyiv.
Yevhenii Riazantsev was born on 27 April 1993 in Drohobych and lived on Ivana Franka Street. He studied at Drohobych School No. 15 and, after the ninth form, entered Drohobych Higher Vocational College No. 19, where he qualified as a construction worker.
After his compulsory military service, the fighter acquired a military specialism at a training centre in the village of Starychi in the Yavoriv district. He began his combat path in 2015 as part of the 54th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
Later, the serviceman continued his duty in the National Guard of Ukraine, where he served intermittently. His last posting was with Military Unit 3018 — the Rubizh Rapid Response Brigade. There, Senior Private Yevhenii Riazantsev served as a rifleman and assistant machine-gunner in the 2nd squad of the 3rd rapid response platoon of the 3rd rapid response company (on armoured personnel carriers) of the 1st rapid response battalion.
He is mourned by his mother and grandmother.
The funeral cortege with the body of Yevhenii Riazantsev will arrive on Wednesday, 29 July, at 11:00 at the Heroes’ Crossroads in Drohobych. The funeral service will begin at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity at 11:30. The burial will take place at the Alley of Glory.
