The Drohobych community to welcome home fallen soldier Mykhailo Prystai from Bolekhivtsi

The Drohobych community has confirmed the death of Ukraine’s defender Mykhailo Prystai, a resident of the village of Bolekhivtsi, who had been considered missing in action since May 2025. After the confirmation of his death, the soldier’s body can be brought home for farewell and burial.

Mykhailo Prystai was born on 19 November 1975 and lived in Bolekhivtsi. He received vocational and technical education and worked at the Drill Plant. In November 2024 he was mobilised into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he served and carried out combat missions on the front line as part of military unit A4594.

Since 4 May 2025 the serviceman had been considered missing in action. Only now has his death been officially confirmed. He is survived by his mother and his brother with his family.

The Drohobych City Council, its executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych have expressed their condolences to the relatives, loved ones and friends of Mykhailo Prystai, noting that the community shares their pain of loss.

The arrival of the fallen defender is scheduled for tomorrow, 12 September, at 13:00 at the Heroes’ crossroads. From there, the cortege will proceed to the village of Bolekhivtsi. A vigil will be held in the soldier’s home at 19:00.

The funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, 13 September, at 13:30 in the Church of the Resurrection of the Lord in Bolekhivtsi. The community is urged to join the farewell and honour the memory of the defender.
