On 4 August, the Drohobych community will receive the funeral cortege bearing the body of Oleh Torskyi, a fallen defender of Ukraine. The procession is expected to arrive at the Heroes’ Crossroads at 13:30.
Oleh Torskyi was born on 26 November 1974 in the village of Lishnia. He studied at Lishnia Secondary School, after which he entered the Drohobych Oil and Gas College, specialising in “Well Drilling”. He later continued his education at the Educational and Consultation Centre of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas in Drohobych. He did not work in his field of study.
For a long time, he lived in the Czech Republic, where he worked on the restoration of historic building facades. After the start of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he returned home and on 2 October 2023 voluntarily joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Oleh Torskyi served as a hardware mechanic in the 2nd communications platoon of the communications company of the command post of the communications battalion of military unit A4935. On 13 April 2026, he was killed in action while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Yantarne in Kherson region, taking part in hostilities to repel and contain armed aggression against Ukraine.
He is mourned by his parents and his brother with his family.
The Parastas for Oleh Torskyi will take place on 4 August at 19:00 in his native village of Lishnia. The funeral service will be held on 5 August at 12:00 in the Church of St Michael the Archistrategos in Lishnia, after which the defender will be laid to rest in the local cemetery.
