
In Drohobych on 15 June there will be a reception for the funeral cortege bearing the body of the fallen defender of Ukraine, Drohobych resident Andriy Voznyak, whose death has recently been officially confirmed.
According to information published by Drohobych City Council, Andriy Voznyak was born on 20 June 1974 in Drohobych, studied at Secondary School No. 2 and Vocational School No. 19, and worked as a loader at local wholesale bases. During the full-scale war he was mobilised and, from 2024, carried out combat missions defending Ukraine as a machine-gunner in the 1st rifle squad of the 1st rifle platoon of the 3rd rifle company, military unit A4886.
Contact with the soldier was lost on 19 August 2024, after which he was considered missing in action. Only now has the death of the Drohobych resident been officially confirmed, so the defender’s body is being brought home for a farewell and burial. He is survived by his mother, two children, former wife and brother.
The funeral cortege bearing the defender’s body will be received on Monday, 15 June, at 13:00 at the Heroes crossroads. From there the cortege will proceed to the central square, where at 13:30 a citywide farewell to the soldier is planned.
After this the cortege will travel from Rynok Square to the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, where at 14:00 the funeral service will take place. Andriy Voznyak will be laid to rest at the cemetery on Pylypa Orlyka Street.
