The Drohobych community bids farewell to fallen defender Stepan Romanskyi

In the Drohobych community on 13 June, a final farewell was held for fallen defender of Ukraine, resident of the village of Lishnia Stepan Romanskyi. This was reported by Drohobych City Council.

The funeral cortege with the soldier’s body arrived in Drohobych, where at the Heroes’ crossroads relatives, friends, comrades-in-arms, clergy and residents of the community gathered. People, kneeling and united in prayer, honoured the memory of the warrior.

After the requiem service, the cortege continued on to his home village of Lishnia. In the Church of St Michael the Archistrategos, the funeral rite took place, after which Stepan Romanskyi will be buried in the cemetery in his native village.

Stepan Romanskyi was born on 1 January 1969. He served in the Armed Forces as a driver-mechanic of the 2nd mechanised squad of the 3rd mechanised platoon of the 8th mechanised company of the 3rd mechanised battalion of military unit A7013.

The defender’s life was cut short on 6 June 2026 near the settlement of Vilniansk in Zaporizhzhia region while carrying out a combat mission to defend the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine.

Stepan Romanskyi is survived by two sons, one of whom continues to defend Ukraine on the front line.
