In the village of Hrusiatychi, a memorial plaque in honour of Andrii Veres, who died defending Ukraine, has been solemnly unveiled on the facade of Secondary General Education School I–III degrees No. 5.

In March 2024, Andrii Veres joined the ranks of Ukraine’s defenders. He served in the 71st Separate Ranger Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, took part in battles in the Kharkiv region and carried out combat missions in the most challenging sectors of the front.

For his courage and bravery, the serviceman was awarded the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s “Golden Cross” and the “War Veteran” badge. For a long time, Andrii Veres was considered missing in action.

On 30 December 2024, he was killed while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Uspenivka in Donetsk region. At the time of his death, the defender was 36 years old. Posthumously, he was awarded the Order “For Courage” III class.

The memorial plaque on the wall of the school in Hrusiatychi will remind pupils and fellow villagers of the price of freedom and the feat of the fallen warrior.
