Combatant and defender of Ukraine Mykhailo Petrovych Bihun, who served in the military for a long time, will be laid to rest in Velyki Mosty and the village of Khlivchany in the Belz community.
Mykhailo Bihun began his service in July 2015 in the ranks of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. After the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, he once again took up the defence of his Homeland, carrying out combat missions, in particular in the Bakhmut sector, where he was wounded.
At one time the serviceman was stationed at the Cynological Training Centre of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in Velyki Mosty, where he lived and belonged to the Velyki Mosty community. After being discharged from military service on health grounds, he continued to struggle with the consequences of what he had endured in the war. On 27 October 2026 Mykhailo’s life came to an end in hospital.
The farewell to Mykhailo Bihun will take place in the town of Velyki Mosty, where he lived. After the funeral service, the funeral cortege will proceed to the village of Khlivchany in the Belz community, where the defender will be buried in the local cemetery, in his native land.
The community has been informed of the schedule of farewell events:
- 28 October at 19:00 — parastas in the mourning room in the town of Velyki Mosty;
- 29 October at 10:00 — funeral service in the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Velyki Mosty;
- 29 October at approximately 11:30 — reception of the funeral cortege at the entrance to the village of Khlivchany and subsequent burial in the local cemetery.
Residents of the Belz and Velyki Mosty communities are urged to join the reception of the cortege, form a live corridor of honour and give Mykhailo Bihun a dignified final farewell.
In mourning for Mykhailo are his daughter Viktoriia and his sisters Lesia, Nataliia and Khrystyna. Sincere condolences and gratitude are extended to his family and loved ones for the sacrificial service of the defender of Ukraine.
