Memorial plaques unveiled in Khodoriv to four fallen defenders

In Khodoriv, on the facade of Khodoriv General Secondary School I–III Grades No. 3 named after Hero of Ukraine Roman Tochyn, memorial plaques have been unveiled and consecrated in honour of four alumni of the institution who were killed defending Ukraine.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by the relatives and loved ones of the fallen soldiers, representatives of the clergy, pupils and teachers of the school, local authorities and town residents, who paid tribute to the defenders.

Andrii Skladanivskyi was a resident of Khodoriv and commander of an airborne assault squad of military unit A2582. He was killed on 19 October 2025 while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Sukhetske in Donetsk region. The soldier was 30 years old.

Dmytro Tomchenko was born in Khodoriv, a sergeant and instructor of the training reconnaissance platoon of the training company of the training battalion of military unit A4138. While carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Stupochky in Donetsk region, he sustained severe injuries and died in hospital on 8 February 2025. He was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” III Class. At the time of his death he was 24 years old.

Viktor Shpak, a native of Khodoriv, was a junior sergeant and commander of the unmanned aerial systems crew of military unit A4808. He was killed on 8 August 2025 while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Pidhavrylivka in Dnipropetrovsk region. He was posthumously awarded the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's honorary breast badges “Combatant Cross” and “Honour and Remembrance”. The defender was 26 years old.

Roman Dyrda was a resident of Khodoriv who served as a mortar commander. For a long time he was considered missing in action. It has been established that he was killed on 11 March 2025 near the settlement of Kurylivka in Kursk region. He was 36 years old.

According to the educational institution, a total of 13 memorial plaques have now been installed on the school facade in honour of its alumni who gave their lives defending Ukraine.
