Horodok to welcome fallen defender Volodymyr Vanchura home

The Horodok community has announced the return to his home town of the body of fallen defender Volodymyr Vanchura. Residents are asked to come out to Horodok’s central square at 13:30 to pay their respects as the Hero is welcomed home.

Volodymyr Yosypovych Vanchura, a native of Horodok, was born on 6 June 1989. He was called up for military service on 23 August 2022. He served in an air assault battalion of military unit A2582, where he carried out the duties of rifleman-sniper and took part in the defence of Ukraine.

According to official information, the serviceman was killed on 26 May 2025 in the area of the settlement of Popiv Yar in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region, remaining faithful to the military oath and his duty to the Ukrainian people. For more than a year, Volodymyr Vanchura was considered missing in action, and only now has the fact of his death been definitively confirmed.

The community extends its sincere condolences to the defender’s mother, father, brother, sister and all his loved ones, sharing with them the pain of this irreparable loss. Residents are urged to honour the memory of the soldier and to preserve their gratitude for his selfless service for the sake of Ukraine and its future.
