Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to three defenders who defended Ukraine

On Monday, 9 November, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Ilya Lipnytsky, Ivan Nychka and Volodymyr Laba, who defended Ukraine from Russian invaders.

The mayor’s office calls on residents and visitors to join the city’s funeral ceremony and refrain from entertainment and celebrations during this time.

The funeral ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul. Afterwards, at about 10:30 a.m., a citywide farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.

Ilya Lipnytsky and Ivan Nychka will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.

Volodymyr Laba will be buried at the Holoskivske cemetery.

A resident of Lviv.

He studied at Lyceum No. 45 of the Lviv City Council. He received the profession of outerwear cutter at the former State Vocational School No. 4. After completing his studies, he did his military service in the Zhytomyr region.

At first, he worked in his speciality, then started his own drumming school. Founder of the band Rareform. He lived his life by his work.

He performed combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation area in the ranks of the 80th separate Galician Air Assault Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

From the first months of the full-scale invasion, he joined the 3rd separate assault brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his homeland from the invaders. He fought against the invaders in the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions and was awarded numerous decorations for his heroism during combat missions.

Ilya Lipnytskyi is survived by his parents, sister, nieces and civilian wife.

A native of the village of Velyki Hlibovychi.

He studied at the Velyki Hlibovychi Lyceum named after Julian Holovinskyi. He graduated as a welder at the Przemyslany Vocational Lyceum.

After moving to Lviv, he worked in the construction industry. He served in the ranks of the anti-aircraft missile forces.

Participated in the events during the Revolution of Dignity. During the last period, he worked at the Lviv municipal enterprise “Lvivspetskomuntrans”. He was an extremely “kind, cordial, friendly and generous person, he never refused to help anyone”.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought against the invaders in the eastern direction as a member of the 115th separate mechanised brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ivan Nychka is survived by his grandmother, mother, wife, two sons and a sister with her family.

A resident of Lviv.

He studied at Lyceum No. 93 of the Lviv City Council. He received a degree in mechanics at the Separate Structural Subdivision of the Automobile and Road Professional College of Lviv Polytechnic National University.

He worked as a security guard at the Private Enterprise “Western Bug”.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend his homeland from the occupiers. He performed combat missions to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Motherland in the eastern direction in the ranks of the 5th separate assault brigade of the Kyiv Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Laba is survived by his mother.
