In Lviv, memorial plaques were dedicated to graduates of the Academy of Ground Forces who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian troops into Ukraine, 137 graduates of the academy have died.

Today, August 24, the opening of granite slabs took place on the Alley of Glory of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petr Sahaidachny, on which the names of graduates of the Academy of Land Forces who died during the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine were engraved.

The event was attended by the first deputy chief of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Andriy Godyk, representatives of the military and law enforcement agencies, the delegation of the Luhansk Oblast and the clergy.

A total of 205 graduates of the National Academy gave their lives for Ukraine – 137 of them died since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian army. 32 graduates received the title of Hero of Ukraine. 13 of them – posthumously.

All those who died in the struggle for Ukraine’s independence were honored with a moment of silence. After that, granite slabs with the names of fallen graduates were consecrated on the Alley of Glory of the National Academy and flowers were laid at the Stele of Fallen Heroes.

The personnel were also awarded within the framework of the event. For conscientious performance of official duties, personal contribution to strengthening the country’s defense capabilities, high performance in service and training, and on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the Independence Day of Ukraine, the following were awarded with diplomas:

  • Colonel Suprighan Valery Anatoliyovych – head of the training center of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny;
  • Lieutenant-Colonel Degtyarenko Vitaly Vasyliovych – Adjunct of the full-time scientific and organizational department of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny;
  • Major Stetsiv Yaroslav Vasyliovych – adjunct of the full-time scientific and organizational department of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny;
  • Major Ivan Ihorovych Kovalishyn – senior officer of the military training department of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Peter Sagaidachny;
  • the senior soldier Zalutsky Yury Oleksandrovych – a cadet of the faculty of missile forces and artillery of the National Academy of Ground Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny.
