In Lviv, the thousandth vehicle has been handed over for Ukrainian soldiers

In Lviv, a ceremony was held to mark the handover of the thousandth vehicle for Ukrainian soldiers from the volunteer initiative Car for Ukraine (“Banderomobile”). Ukrainian and foreign volunteers, benefactors and project partners came to the city for the event.

The event began on Rynok Square with the delegation taking part in the traditional ceremony of bidding farewell to fallen Ukrainian defenders. Participants paid tribute to the service personnel who gave their lives defending Ukraine.

Afterwards, an official meeting took place in the large session hall of the Lviv City Council. The Mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, together with the founders of Car for Ukraine, presented letters of appreciation to international partners, volunteers and fund employees for their support of the Ukrainian army.

“First of all, thank you for coming to Ukraine. Only brave people dare to do this today. Thank you for your support and for helping our service personnel. One thousand vehicles is an extraordinary achievement and an example of cooperation between the Ukrainian army and charitable organisations. Today, Lviv is one of the largest humanitarian centres in Europe. We receive internally displaced Ukrainians, help the wounded and work to support those who defend our country. That is why your help is extraordinarily valuable to us,” said Andriy Sadovyi

During the event, people who, from the start of the full-scale invasion, have been engaged in sourcing, purchasing, upgrading and delivering vehicles to meet the needs of Ukrainian units were recognised.

On Rynok Square in front of the city hall building, Car for Ukraine vehicles were lined up with blue pennants. The prepared vehicles were demonstrated to participants, after which the cars set off in an organised convoy to the military.

The volunteer organisation Car for Ukraine (“Banderomobile”) has been operating since 2022 and brings together volunteers and benefactors from various countries. The team finds vehicles, refits them according to the army’s needs and delivers them directly to combat units.

According to the organisation, over the course of its work it has already supplied Ukrainian service personnel with 1,005 vehicles with a total value of 9.45 million euros. As part of this event, defence initiatives and projects in the field of Defence Tech were also presented.
