At the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Lviv, a ceremony was held during which the families of nine fallen defenders from the Lviv region were presented with posthumous Hero’s Cross awards.
The service personnel were honoured with the Commander’s decoration of the 33rd Separate Mechanised Brigade for their courage and loyalty to the military oath. The awards were presented to the relatives of the nine fallen soldiers. For the families who were unable to come to Lviv, the decorations are to be delivered separately.
“For a family, no award can replace a son, husband, father or brother. But it is our duty to remember everyone who gave their life for Ukraine, and to speak about them not only on days of ceremonies. Their feat must remain part of our shared memory and history,” emphasised the Head of the Office of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Taras Hren.
Those present paid tribute to the memory of Ukraine’s fallen defenders and thanked their families for their contribution to the struggle for the state’s independence.
