From Monday, 12 October, Lviv is introducing two air-raid alert levels — yellow and red. The yellow level will be used in the event of a threat from strike drones, and the red level — when there is a missile, missile-and-drone or large-scale drone threat. This was reported by the city Department for Civil Protection and Territorial Defence.
The “Air-raid alert” signal will consist of a siren and a voice announcement stating the level of threat.
The yellow level will be announced by a male voice in the event of a threat of the enemy using strike drones. The announcement will advise the public to proceed as quickly as possible to protective structures or other safe places. This signal will be repeated three times within 30 seconds.
The red level will also be voiced by a male voice. It will be used in the event of a missile, missile-and-drone or large-scale drone attack. A warning urging people to immediately move to a shelter or safe place will sound twice within one minute.
The procedure for the “Air-raid all clear” signal is also changing. From now on it will be played by a female voice without a siren. The announcement will last for about 20 seconds and will be repeated twice.
City services urge residents not to ignore air-raid alerts regardless of the threat level and to remain in shelters or other safe places until the official all clear.
The list of shelters in the Lviv community can be viewed on the official online map. Information about shelters is also available via the CityHelper city chatbot in Viber, Telegram and in the Diia app. Another tool is the MISTO mobile app, where you can receive important notifications and find the nearest shelter.
The city Department for Civil Protection notes that the new alert procedure is being introduced in accordance with resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 4 September No.1092 and 15 September No.1128. Data on the nature and level of the air threat will be transmitted from the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine via alert systems.
