
July brings days of mourning, when the defenders of Ukraine from Horodok and the surrounding villages, who gave their lives for the country’s freedom, are remembered. On these days, the community honours their memory at their burial places and in prayer.
Ruslan Vasyliv (born 16.09.1974) was born in the village of Bratkovychi. He served in the ranks of the 33rd Separate Mechanised Brigade (military unit A4447). He was killed on 2 July 2023 on the Zaporizhzhia axis, near the village of Robotyne. He is buried in the cemetery in his native Bratkovychi.
Sviatoslav Zakharov (born 02.05.2000) was a resident of the town of Horodok and a soldier of the legendary 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo. He was killed on 3 July 2022 on the Bakhmut axis, near the village of Spirne. His final resting place is the Alley of Heroes at the Horodok cemetery.
Roman Mykytyn (born 26.08.1982) came from the village of Sukhovolia and lived in the village of Halychany. He served as a gunner in the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade. He was killed on 5 July 2023 while carrying out a combat mission on the Bakhmut axis. He is buried in the cemetery in Sukhovolia.
Ruslan Shatarskyi (born 03.03.1980) lived in the town of Horodok and fought as part of military unit A4728. He was killed on 6 July 2023. He is buried in the Alley of Heroes at the Horodok cemetery.
Liubomyr Dymnych (born 24.04.1974) was a resident of the village of Dobriany. A sergeant and border service inspector, he died on 20 July 2023 from wounds sustained while defending Ukraine. He is buried in the cemetery in his native Dobriany.
Volodymyr Holovchak (born 17.04.1990) was born in the village of Vyshnia and lived in the town of Horodok. He served in the 117th Separate Heavy Mechanised Brigade. He was killed on 22 July 2024 near the village of Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia region.
Dmytro Shumyk (born 15.03.1996) lived with his family in the village of Hradivka. He was killed on 28 July 2025 near the town of Pokrovsk in Donetsk region. He is buried in his native village of Chernykhiv in the Sambir area.
In these July days, the community gratefully remembers each of these warriors, who paid the highest price for Ukraine’s independence.
