A memorial plaque has been unveiled in Malekhiv in honour of soldier Orest Kos, who was killed defending Ukraine’s independence. The commemorative marker has been placed on the facade of Malekhiv Gymnasium, where he once studied.
The unveiling of the memorial plaque was attended by the father and brother of the fallen serviceman, as well as local residents. Those present honoured their fellow villager with a minute’s silence, after which priests consecrated the plaque.
The Community Office in Malekhiv recalled that last year, by decree of the President of Ukraine, Orest Kos was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” Third Class. The award was conferred for personal bravery shown in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as for his selfless fulfilment of military duty.
The Malekhiv community expresses its gratitude and respect to its defender and preserves the memory of him.
