The Drohobych community has officially confirmed the death of Vasyl Ivanishyn, a native of the village of Voroblevychi, who for a long time was considered missing in action. After establishing the circumstances of his death, it became possible to bring the serviceman’s body home for farewell and burial.
Vasyl Ivanishyn was born on 7 February 1974 in Voroblevychi. He finished the local school here and later studied at VPU No. 15. For a time he worked at the Dolotny plant, and in adulthood he lived in Drohobych.
On 11 February 2023 he was called up for military service. The soldier served in military unit A4667 and held the rank of junior sergeant. On 26 December 2025, while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Novopavlivka in the Synelnykove district of Dnipropetrovsk region, contact with the serviceman was lost, after which he was considered missing in action. The date of his death has been recorded as 26 December 2025.
The fallen defender is survived by his mother, two brothers and nieces and nephews. Drohobych City Council, its executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych have expressed their condolences to the serviceman’s relatives, loved ones and friends.
The arrival of the funeral cortege with the body of Vasyl Ivanishyn is scheduled in Medenychi at 14:00. The burial will take place in his native Voroblevychi.
