In the village of Moriantsi in Yavoriv district of Lviv region, they will accompany on his final journey Sergeant Andrii Nesterenko, who was killed during a combat mission near the settlement of Vidradne of the Pokrovske settlement community in Synelnykove district of Dnipropetrovsk region. The soldier gave his life defending the freedom, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Andrii Nesterenko was born on 2 November 1995. The soldier’s mother comes from the village of Moriantsi in Yavorivshchyna, his father from the town of Piatykhatky in Dnipropetrovsk region. From childhood, the boy was brought up to love his family, respect others and take responsibility.
In 2013 Andrii graduated from Piatykhatky Secondary School, having completed his full general secondary education. Later, in 2015, he completed his studies at the State Educational Institution “Novoiavorivske Higher Vocational School”, where he qualified as a motor vehicle repair mechanic and driver of motor vehicles.
After his conscription service he continued his military career and became a defender of Ukraine. He served as the senior sergeant of the machine-gun platoon of the fire support company of the 1st Separate Rifle Battalion “Da Vinci” (military unit A4848). His comrades remember him as a courageous, reliable and dedicated soldier.
For his courage, resilience and conscientious fulfilment of his military duty, Andrii Nesterenko was awarded the distinction of the President of Ukraine “For the Defence of Ukraine” pursuant to the Decree of the President of Ukraine of 5 August 2022 No.559/2022.
On 17 July 2026, while carrying out a combat mission connected with the defence of the Motherland, Andrii was killed in action near Vidradne. His life was cut short at the age of 30, but the memory of his heroism will live on among his family, friends and comrades-in-arms.
Left to mourn the fallen soldier are his mother, father, grandmothers and grandfather.
The arrival of the body of the fallen Hero in Moriantsi, Yavoriv district, is scheduled for 27 July, at approximately 15:00. The funeral service for the defender of Ukraine, Andrii Nesterenko, will take place on 28 July. All who knew the soldier and wish to pay their respects are urged to join the farewell and accompany him on his final journey.
