A minor passenger of the car died as a result of the accident.
The accident occurred on August 1 after midnight on Shevchenko Street in Mostyska, Yavoriv district.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a Kia Sportage, a 23-year-old resident of a village in the district, lost control and drove into an electric pole.
The passenger of the car, a 16-year-old resident of the Yavoriv district, died at the scene of the accident from her injuries. The driver sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
It was established that the driver of the car was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the court will soon choose a type of detention.
Investigators of the Department for Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of five to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
