Farewell to defender Yaroslav Bosyi to be held in Novoiavorivsk

In Novoiavorivsk tomorrow, Ukraine’s defender Yaroslav Bosyi, who after a prolonged period of being missing in action was officially declared dead, will be laid to rest. This was reported by the Novoiavorivsk City Council.

Bosyi Yaroslav Andriiovych was born on 28 October 1982 in the village of Stanislavchyk, Brody district, Lviv region. In 1986, he moved with his family to Novoiavorivsk, where he spent his childhood and youth.

He studied at Novoiavorivsk Secondary School I–III degrees No. 3, which he finished in 2000. After leaving school, he worked in the construction sector. The report notes that Yaroslav was a sincere, hard-working and kind person who loved nature, fishing and picking mushrooms in the forest.

In June 2024, Yaroslav took up arms to defend Ukraine and was called up for military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On 7 September 2024, while carrying out a combat mission, he went missing in action. In May 2026, following DNA analysis, his identity was confirmed, after which the investigative authorities officially recognised him as deceased.

Left to mourn Yaroslav are his mother Tetiana, his wife Oksana, his sons Danylo and Yevhen, his brother Oleh and his nephew Maksym.

A prayer gathering for the defender will take place in Novoiavorivsk tomorrow at 12:00 at 6 Stepan Bandera Street (opposite the PrivatBank branch). The funeral service will begin at 12:30 in the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. The serviceman will be buried at the local cemetery in the city of Novoiavorivsk.
