In Novyi Rozdil they will bid farewell to fallen defender Mykola Shevchuk

The Novorozdil community has reported confirmation of the death of Ukraine’s defender Mykola Shevchuk, born in 1991. The serviceman had long been considered missing in action, but after identification it became known that he had been killed.

Mykola Shevchuk joined the ranks of Ukraine’s defenders in August 2024. He served as a grenadier in the 2nd assault section of the 1st assault platoon of the 1st assault company of military unit A7400.

On 18 January 2025, while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Dar’yino in the Kursk region, the soldier was killed as a result of a strike by an enemy FPV drone. After that he was considered missing in action until the identification results confirmed his death.

The cortege with the body of the fallen warrior, Mykola Shevchuk, is expected to arrive on Monday, 29 June 2026, at approximately 13:30, at the “Alley of Heroes” in the town of Novyi Rozdil. After a short prayer there, the procession will proceed to the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary at 2 Andrey Sheptytsky Street in the BAM neighbourhood, where a parastas and the funeral service will take place.

The defender’s burial is planned at the cemetery in the village of Lyskov in the Zhuravnivska community. Residents of the Novorozdil community are asked to form a live corridor of honour and to see the warrior off on his final journey with due dignity.
