Sokal mourns 41-year-old volunteer soldier Serhii Halinans who gave his life for Ukraine

The Sokal community is once again in mourning — on December 31, 2025, Serhii Halinans, a resident of Sokal and a Ukrainian soldier, passed away at the age of 41.

Serhii was not only a defender but a man of integrity and great heart. His honesty, dedication, and loyalty made him a role model for others. Military service was not just a job for him — it was his true calling.

Born on July 2, 1984, in the city of Volodymyr into a military family, Serhii graduated from school and became a qualified electrician. However, he soon chose to commit himself to the armed forces.

In 2014, he married his wife Uliana, and together they raised their son Oleksandr. In March 2022, Serhii voluntarily joined the 2nd Galician Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, where he served with honor.

Serhii Halinans will forever be remembered by his loved ones — his mother Anna, wife Uliana, son Oleksandr, sister Nataliia, fellow soldiers, and extended family. His life was marked by bravery, sincerity, and dignity.

The farewell ceremony will take place on January 3, 2026, at 12:00 PM near the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Sokal. Afterward, the funeral procession will proceed to the village of Zhvirka, to the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where a memorial service and burial will be held. Serhii will be laid to rest at the Zhvirka cemetery.

Eternal glory to the Hero. Heroes never die.
