A memorial plaque was unveiled and blessed on the facade of Sokal Secondary School No. 4 in honor of Roman Bobeshko, a 1996-born graduate and hero. Roman also attended the Sokal Vocational College.
He was drafted into military service on December 12, 2023, serving as a border service inspector specializing in anti-aircraft missile systems with military unit 9938. Devoted to his military oath and Ukraine, he died on July 30, 2024, during enemy assault operations near the village of Hryhorivka in Donetsk Oblast.
The ceremony to honor his memory was attended by his father Ihor, grandmother Iryna, Sokal Mayor Serhiy Kasian, Deputy Mayor Volodymyr Oginskyi, City Council Deputy Oleh Kozhushko, teachers, students, and local residents.
Roman’s father solemnly unveiled the plaque. Clergymen Yaroslav Kashchuk and Roman Synytskyi consecrated it and held a memorial service.
Speakers, including Father Yaroslav Kashchuk, Mayor Serhiy Kasian, School Principal Nataliya Dragan, and City Council Deputy Oleh Kozhushko, emphasized that the memory of fallen heroes must live on forever. They sacrifice their lives for the nation, making this memorial not only a gesture of respect but a daily reminder of Roman Bobeshko’s ultimate sacrifice.
This is the second memorial plaque on the school facade. The first honors defender Volodymyr Datsiuk.
Eternal glory and memory to Ukraine’s heroes!
