Stebnyk to bid farewell to Ukrainian defender Mykhailo Halas

Stebnyk is preparing to bid farewell to Mykhailo Halas, a defender of Ukraine and native of the town, who died in the military hospital in Rivne following a deterioration in his health.

Mykhailo Halas was born on 29 May 1971 in Stebnyk. He studied at Secondary School No. 6 and later continued his education at Kryvyi Rih Technical College. In adulthood, he worked in the construction sector and for many years went abroad for seasonal work.

Despite existing health problems, on 1 June 2026 he joined the ranks of Ukraine’s defenders. He served in military unit A5338, stationed in the city of Rivne. In time, his illness worsened, and the serviceman’s life was cut short in Rivne hospital.

Mykhailo Halas is survived by his wife, daughter, mother and sister. Drohobych City Council, its executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych have extended their sincere condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the deceased defender.

The farewell to Mykhailo Halas will take place at the Church of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Stebnyk. The time of the parastas and funeral service will be announced separately.
