In Stryi, to mark Ukraine’s Independence Day, people honoured the memory of the servicemen who gave their lives for the country’s freedom. On the local Alley of Heroes, 18 new banners bearing photographs and names of the fallen defenders were installed and blessed.
Among those immortalised on the Alley of Heroes are Viktor Stavnychyi, Andrii Melnyk, Artur Tomasiv, Andrii Rumak, Vitalii Hnydyn, Roman Hrytsan, Ihor Petryshak, Marian Hrytsyk, Nazarii Turchynskyi, Oleksandr Bairamov, Andrii Komar, Serhii Mediukh, Pavlo Kurapov, Viktor Khyla, Mykola Khomyn, Ruslan Hulchevskyi, Ivan Shnaider and Andrii Shafiiev.
During the event, clergy conducted the rite of blessing the new banners, and those present honoured the Heroes with a minute of silence. The Stryi community emphasises that the memory of Ukraine’s fallen defenders will forever remain in people’s hearts.
