In the Turkivska community, the death of serviceman Andrii Kitsula has been officially confirmed. He had been considered missing since December 2024, after carrying out a combat mission in the Pokrovskyi district of Donetsk region.
According to the Turkivska City Council, on 13 December 2024, resident of the town of Turka, Andrii Kitsula, was killed in the line of duty while serving. He was a gunner of the 2nd air assault section of the 2nd air assault platoon of the 5th air assault company of the 2nd air assault battalion, military unit A0224.
Since then, the serviceman had been considered missing. His family and the community hoped for his return, prayed and waited for news. However, on 16 July 2026, the defender’s death was confirmed: his body was identified based on DNA examination results.
On behalf of the entire community, the Turkivska City Council expressed its sincere condolences to the family, relatives, comrades-in-arms and everyone who knew Andrii Kitsula, and stated that it shares the pain of this irreparable loss.
The date and time of the fallen serviceman’s return and the funeral service in the town of Turka will be announced separately.
