
A year has passed since the Velyki Mosty community lost its defender Ivan Hryhorovych Nahančuk. The community recalled his life’s path and military service, the Velyki Mosty territorial community reported.
Ivan Nahančuk was born on 1 May 1978 in the village of Dvirtsi. This is where he spent his childhood and where his character was formed, remembered in the community as sincere, hard-working, kind and responsible.
After finishing the local school, he trained as a bricklayer-plasterer at the Belz vocational college. In 1996 he was called up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and did his compulsory military service in Dnipropetrovsk region. After returning home, he worked at the Lisova mine, where he earned the respect of his colleagues through his conscientious work.
In 2002 Ivan married. Together with his wife they brought up their daughter Iryna and son Stepan. The post notes that he loved his children boundlessly and was genuinely proud of them.
On 8 July 2022 Ivan Hryhorovych rose to the defence of Ukraine. He served as a combat medic in the hottest sectors of the front, saving the lives of his comrades-in-arms. For his courage, selflessness and loyalty to the oath he was awarded the distinction “For the Defence of Bakhmut”.
On 27 May 2025, while at combat positions in the city of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region, the heart of Ivan Nahančuk stopped. The community stresses that he will forever remain in the memory of his family, friends, comrades-in-arms and fellow villagers as a man of great heart, a true patriot and a devoted defender of Ukraine.
Posthumously, Ivan Nahančuk was awarded the honorary title “Hero of the Velyki Mosty territorial community”. The community expressed its sincere condolences to his family and emphasised that the memory of the defender will be preserved.
