Ihor Berezhnytskyi, a 30-year-old resident of Drohobych, died in the war with the Russian invader

The new year brought new painful losses. In the war with the Russian invader, our community lost another son – on the first day of the new year, 30-year-old Drohobych resident Igor Berezhnytskyi died.

The defender was born on October 29, 1993. Lived in Drohobych. He began his studies at Secondary School No. 16, later studied and graduated from Secondary School No. 17 in Drohobych. After finishing school, Ihor studied at the Drohobytsky Mechanical and Technological College.

He worked in the field of trade, engaged in the delivery of goods.

From the moment of the enemy’s invasion, Ihor was constantly rushing to defend Ukraine. He went to the Military Commissariat several times, but was refused due to his health.

The defenders from Drohobychan were added to the ranks in January 2023. He was trained in Germany and joined the defense of Ukraine as a part of one of the separate assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and performed combat missions to protect Ukraine in the hot areas of the front.

The soldier died on the first day of the new year as a result of a shrapnel wound during enemy fire.

Among his relatives, the deceased Hero is survived by his wife, daughter, parents, sister, and 2 grandmothers.

The Drohobytsk City Council, its Executive Committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevich express their sincere condolences to the family, relatives, loved ones and friends regarding the untimely death of our countryman and Hero, Igor Berezhnytskyi.
